Influenced by her love of music, the camera became Lauren’s instrument. She began shooting Philadelphia musicians with wide-eyed enthusiasm but with the discipline of a veteran. She has since obtained such clients as Interscope Records, PETA, HBO, and Philadelphia Magazine. Lauren is also a voting member and active supporter of The Grammy's.
Born to an ex-hippie and police sergeant, one might guess why Lauren grew up to be an artist. She moved to Philadelphia from a small southern town just below the Mason-Dixon line. Conflicted by her country turned city roots, you can see a blended mesh of "yee-ha" and rock ‘n roll in her bodies of work.
Lauren’s work is full of heart stopping poignancy, sensuality and grit and provides you with just enough information to wet the palette. No matter what the image, it comes from an honest and real place. You just know her work is no accident.
But perhaps writer, Sal Emma, described Lauren the best when he wrote: “She has crafted a portfolio that channels the raw energy of her creativity without boundary. For Lyons, it’s not about pretty pictures. It’s about images that go straight to your gut before wrapping themselves around your brain. Like their creator, they never fail to get a reaction. She knows what she’s doing.”
Lauren currently resides in Philadelphia and The Hamptons with her husband, Doug Lewis, a tennis pro, and their rescued greyhound, Fred.
